Brush and Mug Classic Wet Shaving

Face Prep

Many people say to shave just after showering.  The reason most often given is that after a hot shower your whiskers are softened up and ready to be shaved.  I read on a forum that the hotter the water, the more it softens your whiskers.  I also read that your face and hands can withstand much hotter water than you could stand in the shower.  I prefer to shave before showering, but have a ritual for prepping.

It starts with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille soap and a wash rag with very hot water.  After a thorough wash & rinse, I soak a white towel in hot water and place it on my face.  I rinse and repeat for approximately two minutes while prepping the brush and laying out all my gear, keeping my face moist and hot at all times.

After about two minutes, I apply the lather (I prefer to work up the lather right on my face with the brush) and I'm ready to shave.
